Hurray! Almost almost 4 years since starting the whole re-scanlation project, I've reached my original goal of getting everything up to the end of Alabasta in good quality (yes, there are a few Alabasta chapters left in v24, but let me pat myself on the back for now). Even though my original goal is complete, like I said before, I'll continue on with the Skypeia arc. Translating is an enjoyable hobby of mine, and I had actually never read the One Piece raws before starting this project. As a consequence, I've come to realize there were quite a few things about the original work that had been either mistranslated or overlooked by fan-translations in both the anime and manga.
One example of this would be is Tashigi's lines in p116 of this volume, where she says the World Goverment revokes Crocodile's shichibukai title
as well as the special permit of "Lawful Seizure of Enemy Assets" which was granted to him. This is the special law allowing shichibukai to keep plunder taken from enemy pirates or enemy states (those fighting against the WG, presumably) that Oda mentioned allllll the way back in v8 p131. In the horribad manga scans that we've had to deal with until now, the "Lawful Seizure of Enemy Assets" was entirely omitted, and in the kaizoku-fansubs anime, it was mistranslated as a law that allows the government to revoke his title. I'm not sure how Viz did it, but considering that they are a professional company, I can only hope that they did translate it correctly.
Update: Missing page 95 has been added and the subsequent page file names have been fixed. Thanks for the pointing out the error, guys.
Update 2: Apparently, p96 and 97 were still switched around so I fixed it again. Sorry for the sloppy release this time, guys.

Thanks a lot..been checking your site everyday since a week ago for this update..keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hard work!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hard work. Consering how NULL already have done most of Skypeia in HQ quality you should consider skipping to W7 rescans after volume 25 or so.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, you are doing god- er, Enel's work.
Vol. 30-39 were not HQ. They didn't start HQ scans until vol 40 and when they redid vol 26-29.
DeleteAlso their early scans during the Jaya/Skypiea arc were rife with errors and dodgy translations. Thankfully, they got a much better translator later on.
Translating Jesus Burgess' names as Xasusu Basusu is favorite translation gem of mine from Null :D
DeleteThank you very much.. thank you..
ReplyDeleteFinally here! Thanks for your hard work.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteBut there is a missing page between 094 and 095 (http://mangafox.me/manga/one_piece/v23/c210/9.html this page) and 095 and 096 should be switched
As the guy above me already mentioned, this page is missing http://www.mangapanda.com/103-2317-9/one-piece/chapter-210.html
ReplyDeletealong with the couple pages being switched.
Excellent work otherwise.
great!thanks as usual.now i'm really looking forward to the Jaya arc,one of my favourie arcs, and possibly one of the worst scanlated part of OP.
ReplyDeleteand interesting part about the shichibukai part.
also, although it's your choice,i agree with the anon above that after jaya, you should perhaps first focus on Vol 30-39
Hi! I've noticed the 2 errors... Please correct :) Also.. You can add the title even to color pages? :)
ReplyDeleteThe errors are now fixed and the links updated. If you want the title in the color page, here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/3aomlw
DeleteThanks... Why you are the best?!?! :)
ReplyDeletethanks a lot!! I can re-enjoy vol.23 again only thanks to you :D :D
ReplyDeleteHi Nep Ece. Thanks for the hard work. A little thing... The pages 96 and 97 are still switched. You can see here:

here weeee gooo !!!
ReplyDeleteoh, thanks for your work :)
Thank you for your work! It's greatly appreciated~!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWith a new release, I HAD to come by to say thanks in-person! (er, sorta lol) It really is phenomenal, the work you're doing, and I, for one, am extremely grateful! But I'd like to draw special attention to (and heap extra praise on you for) the SBS pages: particularly the crossword! I can't imagine how tricky that was, not only translating, but localizing and all that, but I just wanted you to know how deeply it's appreciated by hardcore fans like myself. Again, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, and keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteJust checked the site for the first time in a year... glad to see progress is still being made! I'm grabbing what I've missed and must say I truly appreciate high quality versions available in a digital format I can keep backed up. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank so so so much...
ReplyDeleteAs a suggestion, have you looked into using Shueisha's digital-colored chapters? You could probably find a tool to batch convert the chapters from color to black and white and that would save time on scanning and cleaning, and it might look better too.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have actually. I'm not sure how that would even work. Wouldn't all the coloured bits turn into various shades of gray if you converted into B&W, making it look vastly different from the original raws?
DeleteIt would be grayscale, I just don't know if the differences are vast enough to not consider them. Senmanga looks like it's down, so I can't access the raws for comparison. However's an imgur album to compare Color vs. Greyscale vs. Mangarule's scans: http://imgur.com/a/7pq4x
DeleteI don't know if getting rid of the greyscale entirely is an option, which unfortunately means there's always going to be a light shading effect on the character's skin.
Thx for letting me know about the glorious OP digital colored RAW chapters. Epic is not enough to describe it.
DeleteWhy Shueisha didn't release the other two big cows (Bleach & Naruto) in this gorgeous digital way? :D
Thx, pal.
Epic! They already did, we have the Top 3 (OP, B, N) in gorgeous digital colored editions! :D
DeleteHello :)
ReplyDeleteI've been lurking for some time, but I wanted to thank and congratulate you for all the gorgeous job you're doing. I'm a translator too, and I was getting desperate to find a decent translation of One Piece manga. Imagine my surprise when I found your site: your work is better than decent by several orders of magnitude!
I sincerely appreciate all the effort you are putting into this project. Thanks a lot!!
Cheers,
B.

please provide a resumable link
ReplyDeleteThese links aren't meant to be permanent. If they go down, grab the torrent at bakabt.
ReplyDeleteBut you can use this if you really need a ddl: http://www.sendspace.com/file/4utkak
I didn't mean that. Those links are alive but as my connection is slow dl interrupts and sendspace won't let me resume. As for bakabt the site won't let download, don't know why. So i'm hoping for some mediafire, 4shared or other resumable link for vol 22 nd 23. AND THANKS FOR REPLY.
ReplyDeleteMight want to check if your torrent client and version is compatible with bakabt. In any case, here's another link: http://speedy.sh/vQqay/One-Piece-v23.zip
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. One last request for a link of vol 22 too.
ReplyDeletehi there I've tried out that torrent twice but it didn't work. How do I check if the client and version are compatible with bakabt? can someone help?
