News on v32

This is nepece speaking to give you guys a heads-up on the release of v32 that will wrap up Skypiea. It'll be out around mid-December, no later than Christmas. Where I'll go from here, I'm not exactly sure, as I think everything from here has good tankoban scans (I think?). It's a weird feeling, since when I originally started this project with Onepiecefag, One Piece was infamous for having horrid early scanlations that fans just had to put up with as they caught up to the latest release. If you guys have suggestions about which OP volumes still need better translations, then just let me know.

  1. I do wish you would continue doing this. Volume 69 and above does not have tankobon scans yet. Thanks for doing the trans/scans by the way :)

  2. Hello Nep Ece:
Just wanted to tell you that the only volumes that need to be worked on are volumes 32 to 39. The rest of the volumes are all in HQ already. What do you say? Will you be able to do them?

    1. Oh right, those were only MQ magazine scans. For some reason, I thought all of W7 had tankoban scans.

Well, off to W7 I go then.

  3. Wouldn't it be easier to scan the physical Viz volumes or to rip the Digital ones, instead of working on raw volumes? What do you say about this?

    1. Where's the fun in that? Scanning is easy but tedious work and anyone can do it really. Translation is time-consuming but a lot of fun as each translation has its own distinctive flavour.

  6. Why's there big gaps between the volume releases? Were you busy with other stuff or something?

    1. Why is there always one of you guys asking why scanlators don't get more stuff out all the time?

It makes you sound entitled, that the releases 'should' be out more often. Asking won't get the volumes released any more often, and if it has any impact whatsoever it is to discourage the scanlator to continue, since he/she is gettings shit by not releasing 'more stuff now'.

While I hope that you only asked because you are interested in what other projects he is working on, it could be phrased in a better way.

(This might be a futile effort I know, but I rather try than not. Hopefully I won't do any more damage with this rant, if so I am sorry.)

On topic: cool, thanks for the heads up.

    2. Yes, I normally translate other manga under another group. OP is just something I do to have a nice change of pace every few months. Actually getting a volume done doesn't really take me too long.

  8. One Piece Best Scanlation List:
    ~ Vol 01 - 05 (chapter 41) by Aosh : from china/taiwan tankobon version - but nothing wrong
    ~ Vol 05 (chapter 42) - 25 by You guys : from japan tankobon
~ Vol 26 - 28 by Null : from hongkong tankobon version - also nothing wrong
~ Vol 29 by Null : from japan tankobon
    ~ Vol 30 - 31 by You guys : from japan tankobon
~ Vol 32 - 39 by Null : from WSJ magazine - HQ tankobon version seriously needed
    ~ Vol 40 - 59 by Null : from japan tankobon
~ Vol 61 by Ult : from japan tankobon
    ~ Vol 60 - 68 by Mangarule : from japan tankobon

Vol 69 - 79, All from WSJ magazine, all in good quality, just lack of SBS and missing some revision from tankobon version:
    ~ Chapter 679 - 716 (minus chapter 710) by Mangarule : from WSJ magazine
~ Chapter 710 by New Era, #cmiiw : from WSJ magazine china version
~ Chapter 717 - 806 by Powermanga : from WSJ magazine china version
    - Chapter 807-808 by Mangastream : from WSJ magazine

So, if you guys finally done the Vol 32 - 39 project, we will have all one piece scanlation in good quality.
    Thanks to the scanlators above.

  9. Volumes 32 - 39 are the only ones left that need HQ scans. From 40+ everything is perfect... (40 - 68 HQ tankobon, 69+ HQ chapters from WSJ).

So if you could continue up to the 39th volume, it 'd be perfect.

Thanks for the hard work !!!

  10. You are a hero, Nep Ece. Thank you.

  11. Hi, thanks so much for working so hard untill now.
I think all volumes have good quality scans except volumes 33 up to 39 (the original scans have cropped images and are not good quality to begin with).
And after mangastream started to scan the magazines scans, arround volume 69 I think, the SBS are gone. Could you pick up that? I love the comments from the author and he does give nice info in the SBS, so I miss the funny dialogs. I think there are a few chapters not that good in the middle, but of the top of my head I can't be sure (the anonimouys comment is spot on I think, but after volume 39 is good enough if you don't want to push yourself)
Thanks you again for you efforts! I will come here to see the end of Skypeia HQ :) *and leave my thanks of course*

  12. hey,thanks for the heads up(and the volume,of course!)
as others have said, really hope you can complete upto volume 39.slowly from this point, null aren't as bad as they used to be(remember volume 25),but both the scan quality and translation leave a lot to be desired.
i think it's still a while till you translate till 39,so no point in thinking what to do after this now
also, really looking forward to the end of volume 39.there's very important dialogue regarding poneglyphs in this,if i'm not mistaken.
so it will be good to have a proper translation for it

  14. Why don't you buy the remaining digital volumes of One Piece instead of working on them? Currently, we are missing volumes 24 to 42:

    2. You save time and work. Besides it's the offical version of the series.

    3. The only official version is the japanese one, all the others are just translations. And Viz's "official" translation is known to be severely wrong often, for laziness of the translators i think. It's right to buy the official release to sustain the author, but the official translation can't compete with that one of a fan who did it just out of passion for the series and not for money.

    4. By "official" I meant the official ENGLISH release. It's obvious that the real original one is the Japanese version, but the official one in the English language is the one released by Viz. Why is Viz better than any scanlations? Better translation and quality. It's as simple as that. They translate words that are usually kept by fans like "Shichibukai" into "Warlords of the Sea", "Gorosei" into "5 Elder Stars" and "Nakama" into "Crew"

    5. Why don't you buy the remaining digital volumes and work on them yourself? I do my own thing as a fun hobby, and as I've already made clear, I'd much rather translate the classic B&W scans.

There really isn't much room to this conversation.

  16. After doing 32 -39, I would appreciate it if you did 69+

No one is doing those (69+) in full volume scans (yet). Also the scans of those are often very MQ and lose details up close.

Also realize that errors in Shonen Jump Magazine are fixed in the later tankoban releases. So tank releases are the definitive versions.

    1. The only LQ volumes are volumes 32 to 39. The rest is all in HQ, so there's no need to work on them.

    2. I suppose they are HQ or close nough to it, but they still lack Tankoban scans and the tankobans often include translation corrections and fixed artwork.

  17. Thank you soo much for all of your hard work! I truly appreciate having such a wonderful translation.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate One Piece? (10 being: The best manga in the whole entire universe.)
